2024 Lunchtime Learning Schedule
June 3rd: Coping with Cancer-Related Post-Traumatic Stress. Most people associate PTSD with war veterans and victims of violent crime, but any life experience in which our safety and mortality are threatened can trigger PTSD. The physical and mental shock of having a life-threatening disease is a traumatic event for many cancer patients. We will review Cancer-Related Post-Traumatic Stress risk factors, symptoms, and coping options.
August 7th: Cancer Rehab/Prehab and Common Impairments. Jodi Deistler, PT and ReVital oncology rehab director will be presenting on cancer related impairments. Cancer rehabilitation is a specialized program for healing and recovering from cancer treatment. This enables people to return to life – family, friendships, work, and community.
September 4th: Cancer-Related Fatigue. Cancer-related fatigue is a common problem that faces many cancer survivors both during and after cancer treatments. In this session, we will discuss the causes of cancer-related fatigue and options to manage the symptoms so that you can start feeling great again.
October 2nd: Reiki Workshop
November 6th: Push the Pause Button for Cancer Caregivers. This workshop offers information on support for cancer caregivers. We will discuss the common worries and concerns of caregivers, role changes, and the benefits of caregiving. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their experience, hear from others like them, and learn practical strategies to cope and bolster their own well-being.
